Forever

When you saw me alone and you said "Who are you?"

You looked at me as if You already knew

I was running away

You said "Follow Me"

Your eyes shone as bright as the morning sun

When they shone on me I knew You were the one

Who would fill my life

With Your love

Please don’t ever leave me

I can’t stand alone

I need You beside me…forever

I watched You heal cripples and make blind men see

I walked with You all over Galilee

Despite all You could do

Still they would not believe in You

When I looked again there was a tear in Your eye

And You told me that You had to die

For the sins of all men

I said "I don’t understand"

You said, "Can’t you see? All that I’ve said is true

Now I must complete what I’ve come to do"

Then they came

And they took You away

Please don’t ever leave me

I can’t stand alone

I need You beside me…forever

Then they took You and nailed you upon a cross

I thought all that we’d worked for was suddenly lost

But I heard You say

"Forgive them for they don’t know what they do"

After three days had passed I still wondered why

You let them kill you without a cry

Then I turned around

And You were standing there!

Now You’ll never leave me

I’m never alone

You’re right here inside me…

forever
